How and where to look for reviews of a cat cattery – 5 places to check

Choosing a cattery is one of the most important decisions a future cat owner makes. It is the breeder who determines not only the health and temperament of your future pet, but also the first experiences and socialisation, which shape a cat's personality for its whole life.

That is why before you decide to get in touch or reserve a kitten – it is worth thoroughly checking the reviews about the cattery.

Only… where exactly to look for them and how to interpret them?

PS. If you have not read them yet, then we suggest two of our guides Choosing a cattery – 9 tips for future owners on how to choose a good cat cattery? and What questions should you ask a breeder BEFORE buying a cat? 10 key questions!

1. Google business listing and Google Maps

It is one of the simplest and most credible places to start. Especially as breeders have negligible influence over the removal of unfavourable opinions.

After entering the cattery name into Google (e.g. Kotki Kędziorki) often appears business card with opinions and a star rating. Sometimes it is worth adding „devon rex cattery” to the name, if you cannot find it by the name alone.

It is precisely there that you will find authentic reviews from people who had real contact with the cattery – often new kitten carers or people who were at the stage of talks with the breeder.

What to pay attention to:

  • the number of reviews (the more, the better – it is a sign that the cattery is active),
  • rating (the closer to 5 the better – it is a sign that buyers value the cattery)
  • content, and not just the rating (whether the opinions sound sincere, specific, or maybe they are very general)
  • responses to reviews (whether politely, whether it responds to any comments)

👉 You will find our business listing here: Kotki Kędziorki*PL on Google. We encourage you to read the reviews – these are the words of new Families who already live with Devons from our cattery. 💙

2. Facebook and reviews on the cattery's profile

Facebook today is not only a social platform – it is also a valuable source of opinions and contact with catteries.

Most good catteries run their fan pages, on which you can find the „Opinie / Reviews” tab. There users often share their experiences – both of the adoption process itself, and of the first months of a cat's life in a new home.

It is also worth paying attention to comments under the cattery's posts – they say a lot about how owners maintain relationships with the breeder after collecting the cat and what the atmosphere around the cattery.

👉 On our profile Kotki Kędziorki*PL on Facebook you will find reviews and dozens of comments from people who already have our cats. They often also show photos from the new home – and that is the best proof that the relationship with us does not end at the collection of the kitten.

3. Facebook groups – opinions from other fans of the breed

If you are looking for independent reviews, it is worth checking themed groups dedicated to the Devon Rex breed.

Just type into the Facebook search engine „Devon”, „Devon Rex”, etc. We as Kotki Kędziorki are also in a few such groups!

In most such groups you can:

  • to use the search function and enter the name of the cattery – you will often find older threads with opinions or photos of kittens from a given place,
  • or simply ask a question: „Does anyone have a cat from the Kotki Kędziorki*PL cattery? What experiences do you have?”

Lovers of the breed happily share opinions and photos of their cats – it is a great way to hear voices from real carers.

4. Feline forums

Classic forums and discussion groups bringing together breeders and carers of pedigree cats still work too. There are not many of them, but you can find various discussions there about cats, but also about catteries.

Although they are no longer as popular as Facebook, for people looking for a deeper analysis they can be a valuable source of information. Probably the most active and extensive forum in Poland is forum.miau.pl

5. The cattery's website and its transparency

Often the cattery's website itself says a great deal.

Pay attention to whether:

  • the cattery clearly states its membership of a feline organisation (e.g. Felis Polonia, FIFe),
  • publishes photos and information about the litters' parents,
  • describes the rules for handing over the kittens and their care,
  • shares their contact details in a transparent way.

A professional cattery has nothing to hide – quite the opposite, proudly shows what her work looks like.

👉 On our website https://kotkikedziorki.pl you will find a great deal of detailed information about us! We know from many interested people that it is one of the better-prepared cattery websites in Poland 🙂

Note: Unfortunately, today in the age of AI, it happens that a cattery may have made-up reviews on its website that look genuine. Often you'll see in them, for example, just a name and some random photo (of a person or a cat). That's why, besides the cattery's website, it's worth checking all the previously mentioned places.

How does this look in our cattery

In Kotki Kędziorki*PL from the start we opted for full transparency. It matters to us that every person who is interested in our cats can see what our cattery really looks like, how we treat the cats and how we care for their future.

Therefore:

  • we run our Google business listing with reviews and photos of our cats,
  • we have a profile on Facebook, where we publish the daily life of our kittens and get in touch with the new families,
  • we keep in contact with most of the carers – which can often be seen in the comments and accounts from their homes.

We are not afraid of reviews – quite the opposite, they best show that behind the name Kotki Kędziorki*PL stand real people who love what they do.

PS. We have prepared a special page Reviews of Kotki Kędziorki*PL, which collects reviews from Google and Facebook in one place. So if you feel like it we invite you to find out what the new Carers of our cats write about us.

Summary

Before you choose the cattery from which you will take a cat into your home:

  1. Check reviews on Google and Facebook,
  2. Take a look at groups of breed enthusiasts,
  3. Watch the website and its transparency,
  4. Trust intuition – a good cattery will never put pressure on you, and a conversation with the breeder should inspire calm and trust.
