Kitten availability in our cattery

Below we wanted to show you more details about the availability of kittens in our cattery (on the basis of a post that we published on our Facebook in March 2025).

⁉️ Under one of our posts on Facebook, Monia left her comment: „There are never any available kittens 😕 still reserved as I went into litter J all are taken or provisionally reserved

We answered Monika there, but we thought we would write a separate post, because it is a fairly frequently occurring question for us…

We are a small cattery

We will start with the fact that we are a small home cattery. So we also do not have many litters and kittens.

And this will not change – we do not want to breed cats in large numbers. It is still meant to be a small, intimate, home cattery with well-cuddled and superbly socialised little ones (you can even read how we socialize our cats).

The statuses of the kittens on our website

Indeed, on our website you can see a list available or of all the cats (visible in the website's main menu).

There on the website, by each kitten, you will see several possible „statuses”:

🟢 Available – the kitten is available for reservation
🟠 Preliminarily reserved – the kitten is preliminarily reserved
🔴 Reserved – the reservation has been paid, the kitten is unavailable
⚪ In a new home – the kitten has gone to a new home
🟣 In the cattery – the kitten stayed in our cattery

And as you can see in the image (a screenshot from the site, from 5 March), the kittens of litters I and J (which were born at the end of February) are all indeed there, either „reserved” or „provisionally reserved”. Even though some don't have any photos yet or we haven't written anything about them yet. 🙀

Why are there almost no kittens available?

Why is that? We have people who have been following our cattery for some time and want a kitten specifically and necessarily from us (sometimes even waiting a while for them).

These people had contacted us earlier, we talked a bit and finally (if there was such a desire on both sides) they were added to a small, non-binding „waiting lists„.

It is to these people, after the kittens are born, we are the first to reach out. And this before we publish any information on the website or social media! They know about it earlier 🙂

Because indeed, recently, if we publish some photos of tiny kittens, then they have had their homes for a long time and are not available.

A non-binding waiting list

The people we then get in touch with have a moment to make the final decision (because maybe their life situation has changed, because maybe they have already found a kitten elsewhere, because maybe they do not want that colour/sex). That is why for a few days these kittens have the status „🟠 Preliminarily reserved”.

During this time we show these people photos (unpublished), we talk about the colour, we talk about the sex, we talk about the amount of fur (more shaggy or more bald), and we describe and show what the parents look like. It's hard to say much about temperament yet, but our Devons usually have a similarly super temperament.

If someone makes the decision that they want that particular kitten, then we sign a contract, they pay a deposit, and we change the status to „🔴 Reserved”. This kitten is already unavailable and in about 16 weeks it will have a new home.

Our suggestion?

So what can we suggest? If you really you are thinking about a kitten specifically from our catteryreach out in advance, tell us something about yourselves, what kind of kitten you are looking for, when you would like to have it.

Either we will let you know that it is better to look in other catteries (we will even suggest some), or we will actually add you to our list and get in touch as soon as the next litter is born.

Note (update from 03.2026): Our waiting list for kittens from our cattery is very long (currently over 60 people). Because of this, the waiting time for a kitten from our cattery may be extended even up to over a year. We're aware that there are people who very much want a kitten from us and are willing to wait that long (we invite you to get in touch then). But if time matters to you, we suggest looking for another cattery. PS. We're also able to recommend befriended catteries that may have kittens sooner than us (feel free to reach out).

If you still have any questions – then we invite you to contact us directly.
