Diet has a huge impact not only on physical health, but also on a cat's behaviour, wellbeing and lifespan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A cat's diet is a topic around which many myths and emotions circulate (also among breeders). After all, every carer wants their cat to be healthy, to have beautiful fur and to be full of energy. But what is actually best to feed a cat? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choosing between BARF, wet, dry or semi-moist foods can make your head spin. That's why we've prepared a short guide &#8211; based on knowledge and our experience as a breeder. In it we show what the main feeding options are &#8211; from the best to those that should only be a supplement &#8211; and what it looks like in our cattery <strong>Kotki K\u0119dziorki*PL<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"652\" src=\"https:\/\/kotkikedziorki.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-1024x652.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kotkikedziorki.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-1024x652.png 1024w, https:\/\/kotkikedziorki.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-300x191.png 300w, https:\/\/kotkikedziorki.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-768x489.png 768w, https:\/\/kotkikedziorki.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-1536x978.png 1536w, https:\/\/kotkikedziorki.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-600x382.png 600w, https:\/\/kotkikedziorki.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image.png 1934w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udca1W skr\u00f3cie &#8211; Jak wybra\u0107 najlepszy spos\u00f3b dla swojego kota?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Najlepsza dieta to ta, kt\u00f3ra:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>is <strong>pe\u0142noporcjowa<\/strong> i dobrze zbilansowana,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ma mi\u0119so<\/strong> &#8211; a cat is an obligate carnivore, animal protein must be the main component of the diet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>uwzgl\u0119dnia <strong>indywidualne potrzeby<\/strong> kota (wiek, aktywno\u015b\u0107, stan zdrowia),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is <strong>akceptowana przez kota<\/strong> &#8211; because even the best food will not help if the pet does not touch it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pami\u0119tajmy te\u017c, \u017ceby <strong>obserwowa\u0107 swojego kota<\/strong> &#8211; the fur, skin, body mass and energy level are the best indicators of whether the diet suits it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All right, so now let us present the available options for feeding cats with a short discussion of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\udd69 1. BARF &#8211; najbardziej naturalna dieta kota<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dieta BARF (ang. <em>Biologically Appropriate Raw Food<\/em>) opiera si\u0119 na <strong>surowym mi\u0119sie, podrobach i odpowiednio dobranych suplementach<\/strong>, which together recreate the composition of the natural food of a cat predator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is a diet that requires knowledge and precision \u2013 wrong proportions can lead to deficiencies or excesses. But <strong>prawid\u0142owo zbilansowany BARF<\/strong> provides the cat with everything it needs &#8211; it is the most biologically compatible form of feeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u27a1\ufe0f <em>At Kotki K\u0119dziorki, from 2026 we switched to BARF feeding. Thanks to this we have full awareness of what we give the cat (meat that we buy ourselves, practically no additives), it's raw meat that is very natural for a cat, and we have less intense litter-box smells (or even none).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\udd6b 2. Karmy mokre \u2013 kompromis mi\u0119dzy wygod\u0105 a jako\u015bci\u0105<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dobrej jako\u015bci<\/strong> wet foods are the most frequent choice of carers who want to provide their cat with a balanced and healthy diet without having to prepare the meals themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dobra karma mokra powinna zawiera\u0107 <strong>minimum 60-70% mi\u0119sa<\/strong>, without grains, preservatives, artificial dyes and sugar. Wet food hydrates the body and relieves the kidneys &#8211; which is of great importance in the prevention of urinary tract diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The advantages of wet foods are the high water content (important for kidney health), convenience and ease of serving, a wide choice of flavours, no need to prepare the meals yourself (as in the case of BARF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u27a1\ufe0f <em>At Kotki K\u0119dziorki we know that new Carers may find BARF feeding a challenge, so we also teach the little kittens to eat MjAMjAM or Wild Freedom wet food (high-meat, natural and with a stable, predictable composition). Thanks to this we know exactly what our cats eat, and we're sure they get everything they need.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udc3e 3. Karmy suche \u2013 wygoda i uzupe\u0142nienie diety<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although dry foods are the most popular on the market, their quality can vary greatly. The kittens are taught to eat it, so new Carers can continue to use it, although we recommend BARF or possibly wet food.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf57 4. Mi\u0119so przemro\u017cone lub gotowane \u2013 domowa alternatywa<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some carers choose a compromise between BARF and ready-made foods, giving cats <strong>mi\u0119so przemro\u017cone<\/strong> (e.g. chicken, turkey or beef). The meat is frozen to get rid of parasites from it (it should be frozen for at least 3 days at a temperature below -21 degrees C).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To rozwi\u0105zanie mo\u017ce by\u0107 dobre, o ile pami\u0119ta si\u0119 o <strong>r\u00f3\u017cnorodno\u015bci<\/strong> and <strong>uzupe\u0142nianiu niedobor\u00f3w witamin i minera\u0142\u00f3w<\/strong>, e.g. taurine. Cats are obligate carnivores &#8211; so every step towards a higher meat content in the diet works in their favour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\uddc1 5. Karmy marketowe i p\u00f3\u0142wilgotne &#8211; kiepski wyb\u00f3r<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They are <strong>najmniej polecana opcja<\/strong>. Although it tempts with its price and smell, it often contains grains, dyes, fillers and sugars. Long-term feeding with such food can lead to obesity, kidney problems and diabetes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My na pewno&nbsp;<strong>NIE polecamy<\/strong>&nbsp;popularnych w wielu sklepach (w tym supermarketach) karm&nbsp;<em>typu Whiskas \/ Brit \/ Felix \/ Kitty \/ Sheba<\/em>, which are foods largely based on grains (with a small amount of meat), often have an unclear composition and a lot of sugar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf56 6. Smaczki i przek\u0105ski &#8211; tak, ale z g\u0142ow\u0105<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every carer likes to pamper their cat &#8211; and there is nothing wrong with that!
